The Vatican has today announced that “The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Southwark, England, by Archbishop Peter Smith.”
At the same time it was announced that Bishop John Wilson, Auxiliary Bishop in Westminster, has been appointed as the Archbishop of Southwark.
Archbishop-Elect John will take possession of the Diocese during an Installation Mass to take place on Thursday 25th July.
