Barry Albin Dyer is one of those rare
people who was born to do just what he is doing. He started at the
age of seven helping in his father's business, attended the
Polytechnic of London, now Westminster University, to study
business and studied the funeral service in America, where he is
still greatly respected. He has travelled much of the world giving
lectures on the British funeral industry.
Barry is well known for his numerous television, radio and
newspaper interviews and is a member of the FFMA, NAFD, SAIF and
FIAT/IFTA. He is the UK's representative on the world governing
body FIAT/IFTA, where last year, he received a lifetime
achievement award in funeral directing, previously only given to
one or two people.
He is a presiding Magistrate, (Justice of the Peace) and is
a trustee to many charities. His two sons, Simon and Jonathan,
have followed him into the the business.
Barry has also written his memoirs in the book -
"Don't Drop the Coffin", which includes from graveside punch-ups and
gangland-style funerals to the sci-fi mysteries of cryonic
