How quickly autumn
approaches. The leaves begin to gently cover the summer grass, turning
green to brown. In some ways the garden is at its most beautiful now.
Autumn always reminds me of the football season from my childhood and
being a lover of football, I always look forward to this time of year.
The boardwalk and
the fish pond, the benches and memorialisation in the new water garden
are all flourishing with the autumn and the chill in the air reminds
me that the Christmas memorial Service is only a few months away on
7th December starting at 7pm (Please remember that all are welcome -
come early, there are plenty of seats)
Work on our new
fleet of Daimlers is now in progress and we look forward to a spring
delivery with all the Albins special bits on them.
It is now getting
dark earlier in the evenings and is dark when I arrive at 6am in the
mornings and the new lights from the garden and on the building,
floodlight the trees in blues and greens and are a very welcome sight
and have been quite a novelty in the local area. I have had many
comments from people who pass by in the evenings of how welcoming it
all seems.
We continue our
work bringing back the soldiers who have been killed in action in
Iraq. It remains as ever, one of the saddest of duties we have to do,
I truly mean that.
All credit to the Ministry of Defence for their excellent care and
work in this matter.
Myself and Jackie
were very honoured to attend a reception at the residence of The
Ambassador to The United States. It is such a beautiful house in the
centre of Regents Park and we were made most welcome by The Ambassador
and the staff. It was a very pleasant evening and I would like to
thank them personally.

13th September 2005 at 10.18am weighing 7lb 11oz. Baby, mother and
father are healthy and well. What adventures await him!
My fourth grandchild and third grandson, is due to arrive late
November/early December so more excitement to come.
Also Neil and Dave
are to be married (not to each other!) at Christmas time and our best
wishes go to them and their partners.
We are at present
increasing the size of our mortuary and cooling facilities at the
Culling Road site. These should be up and ready in about two weeks.
I shall be leaving
for Chicago on Monday 3rd October for a four day trip to chair a
meeting as President of the World Association of Funeral Operatives
FIAT/IFTA. For me a very important event and one that fills me with
pride for my own country as we lead the way in that organisation in
our Presidential year.
We look forward to
my convention in June 2006 in London to which all Funeral Operatives
are welcome. For more information please visit www.ifta2006.com.
That's all for now
- I wish you all a peaceful autumn
Best wishes as ever
