BARRY'S DIARY

 JANUARY 2010

Hi Everybody

Well, Christmas and the New Year are over and we set about our winter work in the greyest month of the year.

Losing somebody is never easy - There’s never a good time. Whenever loss strikes it is a huge blow and in a dark and deep January life seems for many, very empty. As the end of February turns from winter and faces spring, March brings new life and often with that, new horizons and brighter mornings.

The days are long and wet and keeping the cars and themselves clean, is often very difficult for the staff and the snow has made our work quite tragic at times - just getting from A to B safely and on time.

We continue to undertake with much sadness, the repatriation of soldiers lost in combat in Afghanistan and our thoughts and prayers go out to their families and friends during their darkest hours.

It calls upon me to thank all my team who work continuously long hours and in difficult conditions sometimes, to make this firm a success and to ease the grief of others. I take this opportunity of offering my highest respect and gratitude for their dedication.

It is our plan in the coming year, to increase our mortuary facilities and to build on a new site close by, a new workshop and factory facility for our manufacturing etc.

We announced in The Southwark News this past week, our intent and hope to hold the OAP’s party this coming September. It’s only in the planning stage with my friends John Donovan and The News, but we hope for lashings of pie & mash, eels and gallons of liquor, together with lots of entertainment and fun and the odd drink or two of course!

We send our congratulations to Neil and his wife Claire, on the birth of their new son Joe - a new baby brother for their daughter Grace. Best wishes to you all!!

I’m going to sign off now – Keep your spirits up until we meet again.

Best wishes
